How to Book an Unlimited Amount of Bartending Gigs Easier Than Ever Before!

October 29, 2009

I want to reveal one of MY biggest secrets to how I book events like crazy.  This is one of the reasons that my business grew so fast and forced me to hire more bartenders.  And the best part is, this secret is so small and simple, ANYONE can do it with 5 minutes of time and little to NO budget!

Would you like to know this POWERFUL Marketing Trick?!

It’s called The Follow-Up.

Now, before I explain the Follow-Up in detail, I want to share a basic, fundamental marketing & business principle first.  It is the concept of how acquiring NEW clients is more difficult (and costly) than acquiring MORE money from a PAST client.   In other words, it is easier for me to make more money from a client I who has already agreed to pay me, work with me and do business with me, than it is to go out, find a new client, gain his or her trust, and get them to hand me their credit card info or write me a check.  It makes sense right?!

Good!  So here is your goal…FOCUS on our PAST clients!  That is where the REAL MONEY is!

The Follow-Up is simply a quick and easy technique of “staying in touch” and showing appreciation to past clients.  This will give you repeat business AND plenty of referrals!

How do We do That?!

It can be as simple as sending out greeting cards/post cards with a quick thank you message the week after you have bartended their event.  An even cooler tip:  What if the party you did was their Birthday Party?  NOW you know that they have an October Birthday, soooo….you put their name in a calendar or excel document, and at the end of September 2010, BOOM!  You send them a quick Happy Birthday Card!  You can also send holiday cards etc!  VERY, VERY POWERFUL!

Now, here is the real trick!  Making a system that works for you!

Last thing you want to do is spend hours writing cards yourself, licking envelopes, and making several trips to the post office!  What if I told you there was a service that could automatically write the cards in your hand writing, create customized cards AND send them out for you…for LESS than a dollar! ($.50-.70!!)

I LOVE this service, it has CHANGED my life and it has helped my business more than I could ever imagine!

If you are interested in such a service, I would love for you to contact me and I can get you set up with them!  If not, I STILL suggest you use greeting cards in your business!!

Hope you enjoyed the tip!

What to Do When Client Says “You’re Cost Too Much!” (Your Sales Script!)

October 25, 2009

Bartending Business Tip: If you have been doing any “Mobile Bartending,” you may have had problems with charging high prices.

I don’t know how many times I’ve had my students come to me and say, “Oh, my city is different, no one would ever pay that much for a bartender!”

And even more students have come back to me and said that they have had customers tell them, “Wow, $175 for a bartender?  That’s so expensive!”

Well…I want to provide you with a POWERFUL “sales script” that will overcome those objectives of high-prices.

In my training, I have always encouraged my students to charge Premium Prices, here is one way you can make sure you get them:

=========

After a client complains about your “premium price,” here is what you say:

“Well, Nancy, the issue is that all of our bartenders, including myself are real, professional bartenders that work at actual bars and nightclubs in the area.  By taking them away from their job, and asking them to work your party, they are leaving anywhere from $200-400 on the table.  That is how much they can easily make in one night at the bar they work at.

If you want a REAL bartender who actually knows what they are doing, you are going to have to pay that much in order to get them for your party, otherwise  they would simply stay at their current job.

========

It is as simple as that!  You are simply stating the truth!  Employed Bartenders make a lot!  Why would they give up a $300 night for $100?!  It doesn’t make sense!

If you position your case that way in a polite and effective manner to your client, you will them come around!  This is working for me, so I suggest you try it!

“But James!  NONE of my clients are complaining at the price!”

MY RESPONSE: Then raise your prices!

That’s it!  No go out and make some money!

How to Set Up ur Bartendin’ Biz as a Partnership

October 22, 2009

Question

“What is your advice for setting up a partnership in your Bartending Business?”

Answer

1. Put a CONTRACT in place!  Visit DocStoc and find a “partnership agreement” contract. Do NOT continue until you have something in writing AND signed!  I don’t care if you are best friends, this is very important!

2. You can file for a DBA or create an LLC or file for a partnership at LegalZoom.com

3. I would each agree on an EQUAL price to invest into the business initially.  (ex.  deposit $500 (each) into a business account that you both have access to)

4. As the events come in, rotate on who gets the events.  (Example: you will bartender every OTHER event) In my opinion, whoever is the actual bartender that night should get 100% of the money…BUT it is nice to put a little back into the business account (like $25-50)

5. As you build your staff: agree on a cut for those bartenders and then THAT money is put straight into the business account.  Eventually that money in the business account will start to add up and you and your partner can agree on a monthly salary that you give each other on top of bartending your events.

That is the simple, basic advice I can give you for a partnership! Remember to start with a contract in place, make sure you and your partner are on the same page from day #1!”

Hope that helps guys!  THANKS!
